Overview
Two things make the Vital 100S-P the model we would put in a bedroom. The first is that its filtration efficiency is stated with a particle size attached: 99.97% capture of particles between 0.1 and 0.3 micrometres, which is the range that includes pollen, smoke particles and the fine fraction of dust. A generic HEPA badge is not the same claim — this is a testable statement, and the unit is AHAM Verifide on top of it.
The second is that the coverage claim comes with a rate rather than only a room size. Levoit states the unit can purify the air 4.8 times per hour in rooms up to 222 square feet. Publishing the air-change rate is more useful than a bare area figure, because it tells you how aggressively the machine is cycling that room — and it lets you reason about what happens in a slightly larger space, where you simply accept fewer changes per hour.
For overnight use it runs at 25 dB in sleep mode and dims its display automatically when the room gets dark, which is a small thing that decides whether a purifier stays switched on. There is a washable pre-filter, a three-stage filtration system, and scheduling so you can set fan speed or a mode like Pet Mode for specific periods. The limitation is simply size: this is a bedroom machine, and buying it for a living room would be a mistake.
