Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

SmartHomeVerdict (smarthomeverdict.com) is an independent editorial website that publishes reviews and buying advice for home appliances. We are not a retailer and we do not sell anything. If you have a privacy question, email hello@smarthomeverdict.com.

2. What we collect

• Information you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message, and we keep it for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
• Basic technical data. Our hosting provider records standard server information — IP address, browser type, the page requested and a timestamp — for security and to keep the site running. These logs are retained for a short period.
• Aggregate usage data. If site analytics are enabled, we collect aggregated information about pages viewed and time on page to understand which content is useful. See the cookie notice for exactly which tools are active.
• Advertising data. Advertising is not served on this site today. When it is introduced, the advertising provider may set its own cookies and process data to select and measure ads, as described in section 4.

We do not collect your name, postal address or payment details, because we do not sell products or run accounts.

3. How we use it

• To answer enquiries and process corrections you send us.
• To keep the site secure and available, and to diagnose faults.
• To understand which pages are useful, in aggregate.
• To serve and measure advertising, once advertising is introduced.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share your email address with any third party for marketing purposes.

4. Third parties

This site relies on a small number of service providers. Where those providers process data for advertising or analytics, their own privacy policies apply to that processing:

• Hosting and content delivery. Serves the pages and keeps standard access logs.
• Analytics and advertising. Where configured, and only after you have consented, Google Analytics and Google Ads may set cookies and process data including a truncated IP address. You can control personalised advertising through Google’s ad settings, and opt out of analytics using browser settings or a blocking extension.

This site does not use social media pixels, data brokers or cross-site tracking beyond the advertising and analytics services named in the cookie notice.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to certain processing, or to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@smarthomeverdict.com and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.

6. Children

This site is intended for adults making household purchasing decisions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we do not direct any part of the site at them.

7. International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on the standard contractual protections offered by those providers.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change how the site collects or uses data — for example by enabling advertising or adding a new analytics tool — we will update this policy and the date at the top of the page before the change takes effect.
