Why this site exists
Buying a robot vacuum, a pool cleaner, a handheld vacuum or an air purifier means reading specification sheets written to flatter the product. Suction figures measured under conditions no home replicates. Coverage claims calculated on the most generous basis available. Filtration described by the number of stages rather than the volume of carbon that does the work.
Most of what you can find online about these products is written to move you toward a purchase. That is not a criticism of individual writers — it is what happens when a site is paid per click. This one is not. We publish no prices, no purchase links and no sponsored placements, so the only thing a page has to do is be correct.
Today the site covers 4 categories and 19 models. We would rather cover a smaller number properly than list everything badly.
How this site is run
SmartHomeVerdict is produced by a small editorial team. Each category has an editor who owns the model list, verifies published specifications, and decides where a product sits in the ranking — the same person is responsible for both the praise and the criticism on a page, which is deliberate.
- Category editor. Maintains the model list, checks every specification against manufacturer documentation, writes the reviews and the buying guide, and sets the score breakdown.
- Verification pass. Before publication and at each review cycle, every specification and “Not published” entry is re-checked against the current manufacturer documentation. The date of that check is printed on the review.
- Corrections. Reader-reported specification errors are treated as priority work, not as feedback. If a figure is wrong, it is fixed on the page and the check date is updated.
We do not publish personal biographies, because we would rather be judged on the method than on credentials — and because a fabricated expert persona is one of the more common dishonesties in this category. How we are funded
SmartHomeVerdict does not run affiliate links, does not publish prices and does not accept payment for placement. We do not sell anything on this site, and no brand has any commercial relationship with us.
This site carries no advertising today, and no page here earns anything. It is funded by the people who run it. Display advertising is planned; when it is introduced it will be sold and served separately from editorial, and it will be labelled as advertising so you are never in doubt about what you are looking at.
The separation rules are the point, so they are worth stating before there is any money involved: no advertiser will see a page before publication, none will be able to request a change to a ranking, and none will be able to buy a place in a comparison table. If a brand advertises with us and also appears in a ranking, that is a coincidence and nothing more. The rules that enforce this are set out in our editorial policy.
What you will not find here
- No prices, discounts or deal pages.
- No “Buy now”, “Check price” or any other purchase prompt.
- No affiliate links, tracked or otherwise.
- No sponsored reviews, paid placements or brand-supplied rankings.
- No claims to laboratory testing that we did not perform.
- No absolute claims. Every recommendation explains its reasoning.
