Editorial Policy
The rules this site operates under. They are short, and they are enforced rather than aspirational.
Last updated September 2026
1. Independence
Our recommendations are based on independent research and are not sponsored. No brand, retailer, agency or distributor has any influence over what appears on this site — including which models we cover, how they are scored, and which ones we tell you not to buy.
No manufacturer sees a page before publication. We do not offer pre-approval, we do not amend reviews to suit a brand, and we do not remove criticism on request. Where a correction is warranted because a specification changed, we update the specification and the verification date — not the verdict.
2. No affiliate links
This site contains no affiliate links, no tracked outbound links and no purchase buttons. We do not earn commission on anything we recommend. If you buy a product we have written about, you do so without any payment reaching us.
We also do not publish prices, discounts or availability. Prices change by retailer, region and promotion faster than we can verify them, and a stale price misleads more than it helps. Confirm details with the manufacturer or the seller.
3. Advertising is kept separate from editorial
This site carries no advertising today. Display advertising is planned; when it is introduced it will be labelled as advertising and walled off from editorial decisions:
- No advertiser can buy a place in a comparison table or a recommendation.
- No advertiser can influence a score, a ranking or a “who should skip it” line.
- Advertising is not targeted at individual product pages.
- No advertiser receives advance notice of coverage or rankings.
- Sponsored articles are not accepted at all, in any form, at any price.
Until advertising is introduced the site has no revenue of any kind — it is funded by the people who run it. That is the honest position today, and it is the position from which these rules were written rather than retrofitted to a commercial operation.
4. Evidence standards
Every specification published here comes from the manufacturer’s own documentation, or from a credible independent measurement which we identify as such. We do not estimate missing figures: if a manufacturer does not publish a number, the page says “Not published”. This is why some cells in our tables are deliberately empty.
Scores are produced against a five-factor rubric published on the How We Test page, applied identically to every model in a category. We do not claim laboratory testing that we have not performed.
5. No absolute claims
We do not use language like “best ever”, “#1” or “guaranteed”. Every recommendation states why it is being made, which specifications support it, and what the model does not do well. Each review includes an explicit “who should skip it” section, because a recommendation without limits is not advice.
6. How our content is produced
Research, specification collection, comparison and drafting are carried out by our editorial team, with software used for research assistance, structuring and language editing. Every published page is reviewed and signed off by an editor who is responsible for its accuracy — including the specification tables, the “Not published” entries and the score breakdown.
The verification date printed on each review reflects when its specifications were last checked against manufacturer documentation. If you find a figure that no longer matches that documentation, please tell us and we will correct it.
7. Corrections policy
We correct errors on the page itself rather than in a separate notice, and we update the “last checked” date. Substantive corrections — a wrong specification, a misattributed measurement — are prioritised over any other work. We do not delete a page to avoid correcting it.
8. Images and the rights position
Every product photograph on this site is the image the manufacturer publishes on that model’s own Amazon US listing, and every one of them belongs to someone else. We hold no licence in them and we claim no copyright over them. They are here for one purpose: to identify the specific model a page is about. When a page sets two named models against each other, the manufacturer’s own photograph is the only accurate way to show which is which — a generic illustration of “a robot vacuum” would be worse than no image at all, because the shape of the product is often the thing being compared.
That identification-only use is the whole basis of our position, and it is a set of rules rather than an intention. Three of them:
- Identification, never decoration. A photograph appears only where the model it depicts is named on that page — the model’s own review, a card or tile captioned with its name, or a comparison column headed by it. It is never used to illustrate a topic, never shown where a different product is the subject, and never used in this site’s own promotional imagery or advertising. We do not illustrate a model we have not covered.
- No more than is needed. One to four whole, unaltered listing images per model. We do not assemble galleries of a brand’s marketing material, and we do not crop, retouch, recolour or composite an image to flatter or disparage a product.
- No endorsement implied. No brand has any commercial relationship with this site, as sections 1 to 3 set out. Nothing about the way an image is presented suggests that a manufacturer has reviewed, approved or sponsored the page it appears on. It has not.
Every image is credited where it appears, and the image credits page lists each model with the listing its photograph was read from, so the source can be checked rather than taken on trust. That page also sets out what we will not do with these images, and how a rights holder can have one replaced or removed — we act on that without requiring a reason.
Where no usable listing photograph exists for a model, we fall back to a schematic illustration drawn in-house, and we label it as an illustration rather than passing it off as a photograph. Our copyright covers the text, the tables, the scoring and those illustrations. It does not cover anyone else’s photography, and it does not cover brand or product names.
One limit worth stating plainly: a listing photograph can show accessories, optional parts or a dock variant that the base configuration does not ship with. We show what the manufacturer shows, and the manufacturer’s own listing is the authority on what is in the box.
9. Trademarks
Brand and product names are the property of their respective owners and are used on this site for identification and comparison only. Use of a brand name does not imply any affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship from that brand.
